Santiago de la Ribera is a coastal district of San Javier located in Murcia, in the litoral of the Mar Menor. It is a zone of fishermen that has grown to become the perfect holiday destination. It has 4 kilometers of beach, among them the beaches of El Castillico, Barnuevo and Colón, all three certified with the Q of Tourist Quality

In the outskirts is the Academia General del Aire (AGA), an important military base. Besides, the Murcia-San Javier Airport (MJV) is also very close.

The zone and its surroundings offer a wide gastronomic range in which the fish and the seafood are the base of delicious traditional dishes.

Located in a tourist settlement, it has lots of services and many activities. From Santiago de la Ribera you will be able to take a boat to enjoy the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean Sea. Furthermore, there is a huge street market wednesday mornings.

Its promenade is one of the most beautiful ones in the coast of the Mar Menor, and it was recently remodelled. Two kilometers of palm trees to take a walk. The Nautic Club has a great presence in the promenade, because its side elevations look like a sailboat.

Throughout the promenade, there are many terraces and newsstands, which are open almost the whole year, where you can enjoy a meal with a sea view.





The zone of Santiago de la Ribera has many services. It is easily accessible from the airport, by taxy or by bus. Besides, you will find there two shopping centres, supermarkets and restaurants of all kinds of food. Santiago de la Rivera also has very near pharmacies and medical centres, in case that you need them. 

For your leisure time, you can practice almost any water sport, enjoy some therapeutic mud baths or enjoy its wide cultural shedule.

The zone is very easily accessible thanks to the public transports. The Murcia-San Javier Airport is only 5 kilometers away. And, 1,2 kilometers away, here is a bus stop of the bus number 70. The route of this bus is from Murcia to San Javier. There is even a taxi stop 1,500 meters away.

The Alicante Airport is also close, less than an hour away by car.

In the zone there are two shopping centres in which you can pass the time. The closest one is Dos Mares, which has more than 70 different shops. It also has 16 restaurants for all tastes and budgets, and a cinema with 8 rooms. 

In San Javier, there is another shopping centre, Molino Plaza, with a Mercadona supermarket and varied shops.


In Santiago de la Ribera there is a wide range of supermarkets, and many of them are close to Ribera Nature and Villa Eliza

Less than 1 kilometre away you will find several supermarkets to do the shopping. The closest one is a SPAR, 800 metres away. Closer to the centre of San Javier, there is an Aldi 900 metres away, and a Lidl. Very near to these, 950 metres from our homes, there is a Mercadona.

Santiago de la Ribera stands out thanks to its wide gastronomy. It has many restaurants of all kinds. The closest ones are: a rotisserie, Cazorla, only 500 metres away, in which you can have the best roast in the zone. The restaurant La Plaza, 800 metres away, specialist in italian food. The restaurant Bellavista, 950 metres away, in the promenade, near lots of other restaurants in which you can enjoy a meal with a sea view. Next to these, there are a lot of other restaurants to choose.


In the surroundings there are also some nearby pharmacies. The closest one is on Castilla Avenue, 800 metres away from the homes. Very close, 850 metres away, there is another one located in Plaza del Segura. And, in Cristina Carrion and Lopez Peña there are two more, 950 metres and 1 kilometre away respectively. 

Medical centre

On top of the other services, the medical attention is easily accessible in the zone because there are two hospitals and a clinic. The clinic is located 1.4 kilometres away from the residential areas of Ribera Nature and Villa Eliza. The hospital Virgen de la Caridad is 21 kilometres away, and the hospital Los Arcos, 5 kilometres away.

This area offers several and varied ways of entertainment. From boat trips to natural paths or some cocktails on the beach


The Mar Menor is perfect to practice any kind of water sport. In the zone there are several schools to learn or practise canoeing, sailing, and diving. The lovers of windsurf and kitesurf will also be able to enjoy in its waters thanks to the easterly wind. 

There is a cycle lane that connects San Javier with Santiago de la Rivera, where you can go running or cycling. 

In fact, in San Javier there are yearly many sports competitions, national and international ones, given its great facilities.


San Javier is perfect for the lovers of culture. It has a wide cultural schedule. In summer, many national and international festivals take place, such as the Theatre and Dance Festival or the International Jazz Festival, declared interesting tourist destination. 

Santiago de la Ribera features many plans to have fun at night. From bars to pubs on the beach for the summer. The more famous ones are Bastilla Playa and Mytika Beach Club, both in the promenade, in the shore of the Mediterranean Sea.

Besides, in the Real Club de Regatas there are many activities such as open-air dances with orchestras, bingoes or several other options of room games.

The Mar Menor is very famous for its therapeutic muds. They are suitable to treat skin illnesses or to relieve pain in the joints. This muds can be found mainly in Las Charcas de las Salinas de San Pedro.
